Reviving Waste: Senior Thesis Exhibition
Plastic is everywhere. It’s durable, long-lasting, and cheap. However the impacts of a predominantly plastic world are starting to catch up with humanity. Polyester, the most harmful fabric in the industry, requires high energy in production, and is derived from a polymer called polyethylene terephthalate (PET). Polyester can be considered a type of plastic.
Strictly using plastic waste, a quilt was created, representing the amount of single-use plastic wasted in the United States every month by roughly one person. A water-resistent puffer jacket was created using the same quilting method, as well as other garments using trash.
